Uxbridge Pool Action Group ran this lido themselves in 1984 after it was closed by Hillingdon Council.  After a series of openings and failures – due to lack of capital, and despite volunteer help, the lido finally closed in 1999 for health and safety reasons.

Hillingdon Council have been working on a scheme for a leisure centre with a 50m indoor pool and the renovation of the lido for 5 years.  The ASA reported in February 2004 that in recent meetings with Hillingdon officers they found a new enthusiasm for the scheme.

The pool action group, while welcoming the renovation of the lido, are concerned that it will be overshadowed by the new pool.
