PEOPLE'S CONSULTATION ABOUT Haggerston Pool WEDNESDAY 18th JANUARY At the VLC (next to Haggerston Pool) on Whiston Road on Wednesday January 18th in the evening 5.30pm- 8.30pm

Local pool-campaigners have organised a People's Consultation about the future of Haggerston Pool. Hackney Council have made moves towards looking at how the pool can be re-opened. Please come along to help us demonstrate the level of support for the re-opening of the pool.

PLUS a showing of "THE PEOPLE'S VOICE", a short film with members of the community making their case for the re-opening of the baths and their pleas to the council to take action.

Protest at Black Park 1st of June

Black Park is in Slough Bucks. A year long campaign has been waged to save swimming in the lake - which has been 'London's beach' for 70 years.

Last April Bucks CC banned swimming, wading & paddling. Suddenly the park was full of no swimming signs "DANGER HEALTH & SAFETY RISK " and the children's paddling beach fenced off.

On the 1st June swimmers are meeting to protest at the ban. More info from Michelle Little - michelle.little@btinternet.com. Website www.freeblackpark.co.uk.

Haggerston Vigil

Fifty Haggerston residents and ex-swimmers protested at the pool's closure on March 18th to mark 100 years since the foundation stone was laid.
